Clearly Claire Boucher (aka Canadian songstrel Grimes) was one of those girls in school we all wanted to be: catastrophically talented, as cute as she is cool and with hair the precise colour of the pink bit of coconut ice. We imagine she sort of struggled a bit with those cheerleader types, but dismissed their pom-pom mean girlishness with a knowing upping of the volume on her walkman. Not only a dulcet-voiced singer with  beat-laden ethereal-pop electronica her sound of choice calling to mind  meets Lykke Li, she is also a practising visual artist and music video director.
