So, summer has finally got the memo about being the season of sunshine and balmy temperatures, and at around this time on a Friday afternoon, what we would most like to sip on to cool us down come downing tools…and the answer is, iced cider. Not the sediment-y, paint-stripper tramps favourite stuff you understand, but rendered an altogether finer and more elegant drink that’s perfectly party appropriate. Thanks to the likes of the Chevallier family (behind Aspall, the cider produced using traditional French methods for extra sparkle and clarity), Biddenden‘s new ‘Champider’, a super-refined apple tinged champagne-style drink that slips down all too easily, and the produce of the Temperley family’s ancient orchards deep in the Somerset folds, cider is to summertime drinking what leafy breezes are to a hot, sunny day.
